  I went to this so called “Law Firm” (I use the term reluctantly) several years ago for a Worker’s Compensation claim valued at well over 50K. I drove down to their office from Pasadena and after spending over an hour discussing my case, they decided to represent me. I paid them a filing fee and as far as I was concerned the case was in motion. After a couple of months, and the opposing Attorney’s arguments were filed…I started to feel as if my Attorney was losing interest…I guess he figured it wasn’t going to be a quick settlement and the next thing I know I received a letter from Regan & Associates telling me my initial Lawyer was leaving the firm and further requesting I sign the letter stating that the Attorney leaving (my lawyer) was going to be taking the file with him and continue to work on the matter at his new law firm. I agreed and within 2 week I got a letter from the Attorney telling me that they thought the case wasn’t worth pursuing any further and stated that they were going to be closing the file! I was so frustrated that I didn’t know what to do…but because I was very ill at the time…I just sort of gave up on my claim and moved on with my life. To date, I have never received any of my original files back (which contained all of my original documents for the case) nor did I ever hear from my lawyer again. Instead, for almost 8 years now…I have been receiving letters from Regan & Associates demanding I pay them for filing fees associated with my case! I finally called their office and spoke with a man who happened to remember me from my visit in their office years earlier…I told him that I had already paid some fees to the original lawyer and that the case was a contingency fee based case anyway…therefore no monies were ever due! He agreed after reviewing the matter, but said he’d look further into it and let me know the results. To date, I still have never received my original files and documents, their lack of professionalism caused me to forfeit over 50K in unpaid commissions and all I have ever received from them have been collection letters each and every month…for over 5 years. I warned their secretary that the statute of limitations had long expired and to stop writing me these ridicules letters…yet, I went in the mail today (January 4, 1017) and there is another letter from them! I am going to write them a certified letter telling them cease and desist from contacting me…and I am going to demand my original documents be returned to be forthwith. If they fail to do either, I will file suit against them.
